Wanda Murphy’s figurative paintings surrounded by bold, beautiful colors are a celebration of life. Through her spiritual journey Murphy seeks to explore the struggle between human desires and spiritual evolution. The ethereal figures explore the struggle between human desires and spiritual evolution; explore the intimacy between the dream state and reality, expressing a oneness with divine energy. You see the nurturing female figures are in a state of grace for the light of hope, the light of healing and the light of love.
Wanda Murphy obtained her formal art education at Concord College in West Virginia. In the summer of 1996, she became the apprentice to world-renowned linear expressionist Jean Claude Gaugy. Salvador Dali arranged a one-man show for Gaugy at the Galerie de Seine in Paris at a young age. Gaugy was also the apprentice to sculptor Henry Moore, while in England. Murphy worked with Gaugy during the creation of “The Awakening”. “The Awakening” is an 8000 sq. ft. monumental work of art that is of a universal spiritual theme on display in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
